Boston Marathon - The Survivor Edition 2007

Well some of you may have known that I was in training for Boston till I was derailed with some bursitis and an IT Band problem. That kinda of limited some training time and mileage. But I was still determined to run Boston on Monday. It was after all a life long goal of mine. I didn't care too much about time I just wanted to get through the thing especially since we were facing 20mph + head winds coming into Boston. Not to mention steady rain the night before that made the athlete's village fill up with mud that we got to stand in for an hour + before the start. What fun! The crazy Boston fans (many of whom may have had a few) had no sense to get out of the weather and I was glad they where there. There was no way I was going to finish without them. Which included my wife Kelli waiting at the 26 mile mark for me the whole day. (what a long wait). I cruised through the first 16 miles at just under the 4 hr pace I would like to break some day. Unfortunately when I hit the hills of Newton my muscles just about had enough and began shutting down and cramping up. It was a slow jog/walk to the finish - the last 10 miles not fun but I made it in 4:26:46. All things considered..........I'm a happy camper.

Heartbreak Hill! (20 miles)

I plan on resting for a solid two weeks after this one or more! I start PT next week then it's back to the Dr. to find out if I can start training for the next one. Oh boy!

Seeing Kelli at the Finish! Priceless!!
