Hanbok

Yesterday I had the privilege of photographing a couple of children in their Hanbok outfits from Korea. These outfits and traditionally worn at formal occasions including the child's first birthday. They are very colorful outfits and fun to photograph.

If you are looking for an appointment call as soon as you know when everyone can get together. Currently I have openings almost every week. But as the summer progresses you will need to book 2-4 weeks in advance.

Congratulations Alyssa & Daniel!

I had done Alyssa's senior portraits several year's ago. It was fun doing a wedding where I had known the bride and her family for quite a while. Thanks for making me part of your day!

Nicole & Scott

Apparently hanging rosary beads outside your door the night before a wedding really does hold off the rain! What a beautiful day at Wequassett. Congratualtions to Nicole and Scott! Your images will be up soon.

Where have I been?

Well some of you have been asking - Where's Tom? After all I haven't exactly been posting much lately. I've been working! It's prom, baseball and graduation season. While I don't photograph a lot of those anymore I am still managing my crew of over 15 seasonal photographers and assistants. No time to blog.

As far as the running goes well after the Marathon I did take some time off from running. Which was a good time to do that with work getting busy. I started PT twice a week to work on my right leg which had been causing me problems for months (IT band, bursitis). After about a month on the DL I'm now back to running almost 20 miles a week. No races just yet but am hoping to enter the 4th of July road race here in Sandwich. I have enter the lottery for New York Marathon in November and should find out something soon.

Lyssa & Andrew

Memorial day weekend and a great day in Hyannisport. Congrats to Lyssa & Andrew! These two know how to have a good time not to mention their friends and family. The band was fantastic and someone had a few bridesmaids that could carry a tune or two.

Boston Marathon - The Survivor Edition 2007

Well some of you may have known that I was in training for Boston till I was derailed with some bursitis and an IT Band problem. That kinda of limited some training time and mileage. But I was still determined to run Boston on Monday. It was after all a life long goal of mine. I didn't care too much about time I just wanted to get through the thing especially since we were facing 20mph + head winds coming into Boston. Not to mention steady rain the night before that made the athlete's village fill up with mud that we got to stand in for an hour + before the start. What fun! The crazy Boston fans (many of whom may have had a few) had no sense to get out of the weather and I was glad they where there. There was no way I was going to finish without them. Which included my wife Kelli waiting at the 26 mile mark for me the whole day. (what a long wait). I cruised through the first 16 miles at just under the 4 hr pace I would like to break some day. Unfortunately when I hit the hills of Newton my muscles just about had enough and began shutting down and cramping up. It was a slow jog/walk to the finish - the last 10 miles not fun but I made it in 4:26:46. All things considered..........I'm a happy camper.

Heartbreak Hill! (20 miles)

I plan on resting for a solid two weeks after this one or more! I start PT next week then it's back to the Dr. to find out if I can start training for the next one. Oh boy!

Seeing Kelli at the Finish! Priceless!!

Moving Day

Whew! After not spending much time at home over the past 6 weeks it was difficult to help Kelli pack. I gave her the month off so she would have plenty of time. She did an amazing job getting us ready for the movers. Karen and I cleaned out the last of the Northern Images storage in the basement. By the way - if any one of our former wedding clients from 97-2001 would like their negatives, give me a call at the studio! This is us on Thursday with 5 minutes to spare before our final walk through. It was bittersweet moving out of our old house. We did a lot of growing in this house personally and professionally. 9 years in one spot seemed like a lifetime in many ways.

NEIPP

I had an awesome week studying with one of the world's best wedding photographer's this past week. Kevin Kubota inspired us all with his knowledge and passion for photojournalistic weddings and photoshop workflow. Exactly some of the things I needed to kick start the year. Here are me and some of my fellow Cape Cod photographers with Kevin.

NEIPP is the professional photographer's of New England Institute. This was my 5th year in attendance.

Lab Seminar

Yesterday it was back to work - sort of. I love what I do so it's never really too much work. But I was the one who was teaching the workshop not attending it. I have done some speaking before and I used to teach middle school science but for some reason I was a little nervous for this. My subject was beach portraits. I had never done this type of workshop before and had over 60 photographers signed up for my class! Including my old boss Bob Knight from the photography company I started with 17 years ago in Florida. Add to that we were going to go out to the beach and do some live shooting with a couple of models.

Well the good news is that everything went very well. I had enough time to go into my presentation - photograph on the beach - then show them what we got on the beach. Perfect!

The photos are a few selections. Maddie was my senior model - she works at Norman Party Pics. But the real stars of the day were Georgia and Portia who were just awesome!

Circa 39

Our first stop in Miami was hotel Circa 39 where we had a great time. The hotel was built around 1939 and is located on the 39th st. block in Miami Beach. They feature complimentary cocktails from 6-8:30 each evening and a free hot breakfast in the morning. If you come to the hotel in September when you are 39 you can stay for just $39/night! Guess who is 39 this May! Miami in September hmmm - too bad I'm crazy busy in September ha!

With the kids at mom's - we were looking forward to a couple of days relaxing by the pool or on the beach. I got in another run on the boardwalk here before taking a few photos with Amy at sunset.

Here is a pic of the staff before checking out of the hotel on Sunday - They had these in the courtyard right outside our rooms - how cool!

Studio Closed

The studio will be closed today Feb. 23 thru Friday March 2nd. This is the first time I've closed my studio in quite some time for this long. I've always wanted to reward my staff so this year we are taking Amy and Karen to Miami Beach. They are flying in today and we will pick them up in Ft. Laurderdale then it's off to South Beach for a few days of R&R before our lab seminar begins on Sunday.

If you need to get a hold of us please email me at Nimages@aol.com but it could be a few days before I get back to you.

Disney MGM

We had an awesome time at MGM. After spending past years at the magic kingdom, animal kingdom we decided to check out MGM. Lots of shows to take in. Melanie and Kylie both loved the Little Mermaid show and the High School Musical street performance.

Cocoa Beach

Spent the last few days on the beach visiting my mom and my step father. Nothing like getting out of the cold weather for a few days.

We went out to the beach and did a few of our own family photos Florida style.
Here is one of the girls with their beach Grammy.
Maybe I need to do beach portraits in the winter.....hmmm southern images??

Here is a pic of our house we sold. Oh we do have one we are moving to - we had put an offer on one just down the street.

Tampa Bay Half Marathon

Well I made it to Tampa around Midnight last night. Kenny (my teammate in college and best man at our wedding) asked what time I wanted to get up. I said about 5:45 - after all the race doesn't start till your chip crosses the start - right.

I felt pretty good despite driving for two days to get here. I finished the race in 1:46:43 just over 8 min pace. The right hip had been acting up recently and I may need to take a few days to recover from this one.

But I'm in Florida and Vacation has begun!
Last week - miles 10 (resting injury before the race)

Going To Florida

Well I was suppose to fly today to Tampa but my flight was canceled coming out of JFK. Due to the Valentine's Day Snowstorm they are still backed up at JFK......so no problem just take the next one but guess what - no empty seats till Sunday maybe Monday!

Welcome to the northeast during Winter Break! OK so now what? Guess I'm driving to Florida now - I know - I'm crazy!! Kelli and the kids are flying down on Tuesday and I have a race in Tampa on Sunday at 6am. Only way I can get there in time is to drive.

See you in Tampa!
