Wendy & Kendall

Congratulations to Wendy and Kendall who were married on 9/8/07 at the Holden Inn in Wellfleet. A truely inspirational day! Kendall battled cancer for several years to overcome the illness and live out one of his dreams - to marry Wendy. Amy and I were simply blessed to be able to capture such a fantastic moment in two people's lives.

Sandwich Class of 2008

I got a call from the HS YB advisor a few days ago with a request to help them out with a photo of the Senior Class. Having attended Sandwich "back in the day" I gladly agreed to help out. All I had to do was climb in a 95ft ladder truck with some of Sandwich's finest - oh boy!

New Web Sites Launched!

Whew! - Some of you may have noticed some changes happening both in cyber space as well as at our studio.

First we have launched a totally new site for our wedding photography - www.capecodweddinglife.com this site will allow for additional galleries and a new way for our clients to preview their albums.

Next we just finished updating our site at www.northernimagesstudio.com introducing studio 280 (since we are located at 280 Rt. 130 in Sandwich). This site will be dedicated to our portrait and senior work. It will include a new online shopping cart option for our portrait clients to reorder prints.

While that was all going on Karen was hard at work repainting our reception and viewing area at the studio. All new furniture and a fresh new look. Come give us a visit at studio 280. I'll post some images of the new look soon.

Falmouth Road Race 2007

My third falmouth in a row. It was a beautiful day and I ran pretty well with a time of 54:43 my fastest falmouth so far. I was joined by my long time friend Rich who had never run a race before in his life. He did great finishing the 7 mile race under 1:10. Here is a pic of Rich, Me my friend Jen and her friend Kim. We of course ended up at BBC after the race for a few drinks - we had to rehydrate right!

UCF Men's Cross Country Cut

Ok I got a phone call a few weeks ago and my mouth dropped when I learned that my alumna matter - UCF had made the decision to drop men's cross country. It upset me very much. You see in1986 I walked on the team as a 119 lb freshman. At the time the school was in debt trying to bring football from Div 2 up to a Div 1 program. So it had very little money for non producing revenue sports like cross country. That first year we had no uniforms, no scholarships, and no coach (the conditioning coach of the football team double as the X-country coach).

By the time we had graduated we actually were able to start holding our head's a little higher because we had pulled together as a team. Pushing each other finding volunteer coaches to work with us, holding races to buy uniforms ourselves. No one gave us a dime or much support. We raised money found ways to start a Track Club and continued running the best we could. We actually had a saying "UCF X-Country - You Gotta Luv it!"

Those experiences lead us to be the leaders and educators that we are today. Many of my fellow teammates went on to be businessmen, coaches and teachers in the community.

It's sad to see a school drop a sport that took over 20 years to build to a respectable and competitive team that it is today.

Please sign the petition to have the school reconsider it's decision.

Marathon Training Again??

I must be nuts! But I've started training for Marine Corp marathon today. It's about 16 weeks away - Oct 29th. The buddies and I had tried to get into NY but not one of us made it in the lottery. So we had registered for Marine Corp as our backup. I'm just now getting back to running 20 miles or so a week. With a few 5k and some track work in to get some of my speed back. So far so good for me however Kenny has been having some back problems and it's not looking good - he may not even be able to run again ever! Which really sucks - having been pretty much there about 7-8 years ago with an injury that I never thought I was going to recover from I buried myself in my photography. My friend Jay is doing a little better with his training and will hopefully be able to join me in DC. The only way I'm going this time is if my training goes well and I'm injury free going into the race. Here is a recent pic from a race I did a few weeks ago. Thanks Geof for the pic.

Where have I been?

Well some of you have been asking - Where's Tom? After all I haven't exactly been posting much lately. I've been working! It's prom, baseball and graduation season. While I don't photograph a lot of those anymore I am still managing my crew of over 15 seasonal photographers and assistants. No time to blog.

As far as the running goes well after the Marathon I did take some time off from running. Which was a good time to do that with work getting busy. I started PT twice a week to work on my right leg which had been causing me problems for months (IT band, bursitis). After about a month on the DL I'm now back to running almost 20 miles a week. No races just yet but am hoping to enter the 4th of July road race here in Sandwich. I have enter the lottery for New York Marathon in November and should find out something soon.
